 ViSTO Rules of Conduct & Disciplinary Policy

Clear expectations at ViSTO Camp is extremely important. Without expectations being followed, ViSTO cannot enable each camper the opportunity to explore and develop their abilities to their greatest potential. These expectations help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.

Expectations of Each Camper: 

·     Encourage one another 

·     Demonstrate honesty

·     Participate, play and learn with courtesy, cooperation and kindness.

·     Be respectful

·     Be punctual

·     Arrive into building 5 minutes prior to start time


Dress Code: 

Please come in comfortable clothing suitable for sitting on the floor, dancing, moving, painting and fun!

 

Comfortable shoes MUST be worn (preferably running shoes) Open-toed shoes will not be safe for your camper. NO flip-flops.

 

We recognize that the summer weather can get quite hot, but modest clothing is required i.e. clothing must adequately cover the camper’s body; shirts and tops cover the entire mid-section. This allows a camper to move more comfortably too.

 

Personal Belongings: 

Cell phones are NOT to be used or seen during camp hours and Showcase Performance.  They may be used during breaks. All other personal belongings should be left at home, or in a backpack at door to eliminate distractions.

 

Please ensure your camper has the following items each day:

·     a labelled water bottle, as hydration is important through the summer

·     lunches and snacks. Campers will have allotted times to enjoy these throughout the day


Inappropriate or Unacceptable Behaviour includes, but is not limited to: 

  • disrespectful behaviour or language to staff or others
  • damaging property 
  • leaving facility without permission 
  • going to areas designated “off limits” 
  • violence or fighting 
  • threats or intimidation, racial slurs 
  • any form of harassment (mental, physical, emotional, social, religious or sexual) 

 

Lost and Found: 

All items will be placed in a designated Lost & Found area on-site. At the end of camp each summer, these items will be discarded.


Drop Off and Pick Up: 

All parents/guardians of campers in grades SK-8 must come into the building to meet staff for sign in and sign out.

 

Parking must be in designated areas only and not in front of the stairs. 

 

All campers in K2K Productions VISTO Camp are to follow the Rules of Conduct, as outlined above. Failure to follow these rules subjects the camper to the following Progressive Discipline Policy:

First Discipline Issue 

Camper will be given a warning (2 warnings only) 

Parent/guardian notified


Second Discipline Issue 

Camper will be given a warning 

Parent/guardian conference 

Possible suspension from VISTO Camp (1 day) 

Third Discipline Issue 

Parent/guardian conference 

Suspension and/or dismissal from VISTO Camp

 

These expectations and policies were outlined at time of registration and agreed upon when registering every camper.
